WHOOSH! Device hygiene and cleaning spray… stick with us…

Have you ever noticed that when you buy a brand new pone that the screen doesn’t always show fingerprints on it straight away? It is almost like it has been treated with some sort of coating before having that massive sticker slapped on it… the one that has no air bubbles in it… how do they do that… I digress. Then, after a day or so of general use, you start to notice the grease from your face and hands appearing on the screen, don’t lie, no matter how much you wash your hands and face, it is inevitable. No matter how you might clean your screen, the dirt and grease film just seems to just smoosh and smudge all over it, it is hard to get off. Let’s also just keep in mind that the surface of a mobile phone is reported to be up to 10X dirtier than a public toilet seat. I end up spending a while cleaning the screen to get it ready for those ever important EDC pocket dumps shots, then when the iPad Pro features, with its mahoosive screen, it takes an age… if only there was a way to make this cleaning process so easy… if only there was a way that I could carry something as part of my EDC that will help me achieve a clean screen… If only…

WHOOSH! Double pack in retail packaging…

I have recently introduced to a company called WHOOSH! They produce a tech hygiene cleaning type product and could well be the answer to my tech based smooshy grease issues. WHOOSH! comes in spray bottles of varying sizes and is used as you would use any sort ofcleaning spray, when you buy it it also comes with an orange micro fibre cloth… you orange EDC’ers will love it just for that.

Orange…

Anyway, it couldn’t be easier to use, you spray the cleaning fluid on to the Antimicrobial Microfiber Cloth and then clean and polish the screen of your device.

Spray the microfibre cloth…
Wipe the screen…

From reading up about WHOOSH!, it seems that the spray itself started out as a car cleaning product, but some of it was accidentally spilled onto an iPad and when it was wiped off, the screen looked like it was brand new again. The focus of the company then shifted from the car industry to Tech Hygiene to help mobile phone and tablet users have cleaner working environments overnight and so WHOOSH! Was born.

The actual cleaning ingredients of WHOOSH! is a total mystery. It’s not labeled with its ingredients and they aren’t listed on the company’s website. That being said, WHOOSH! makes a point of stating that WHOOSH! Screen Shine is a non-toxic, ammonia & alcohol-free screen cleaner. So, it’s safe to use for all members of your household.

Would it surprise you to hear that Apple themselves use the spray in their retail stores to clean down at the end of the day… well, they did, there seems to have been an issue with the liquid and the straps of the Apple watch so they pulled it. This doesn’t bother me as the screen of the iPad and the iPhone are what I want the cleanser for and in any case, my iWatch has a different sort of strap on it which wont be affected by the spray… plus I’m still all about the Garmin watch at the moment… until the iPhone 12 comes out that is… I digress yet again.

I don’t have a laboratory to hand that will test swabs of my phone before and after the application of the WHOOSH! wonder juice, nor would I want them to come to think of it. What I can say is that WHOOSH! washes away smudges and fingerprints with ease, bringing back that the ‘new screen’ with it.

The cheapest i found this for was on the old amazon, I opted the ‘Duo’ pack which consists of a 100ml bottle as well as a smaller 8ml bottle that is perfect for sitting in my tech edc bag, and of course the orange micro fibre cloth I mentioned earlier, this came in at £14.94p. The 8ml bottle and cloth came in at £7.89p and there is a larger 500ml bottle that is £18.67p.
