Welcome to this seventh edition of Meet Your Maker. This week it’s the turn of Scott from Crook Customs.

Tell us about where you’re from, what you do, how it all started and why you enjoy it.
I am from Olympia, Washington. I am a bank manager by day, and maker at night and on the weekend. I have always enjoyed making things, and from a young age my dad taught me a lot about metal working and hard work. If you could draw a rough sketch with rough dimensions, my dad could make it. I enjoy making because it takes me out of the every day hustle, and I get to focus my energy on one thing. Everything else fades away when I am in the shop working on projects.
What are your aims and are there any items or products you’d love to make?
I would love some day to replace my income and not have to work a day job to support the family. I am very interested in making tools. I would like to have a line of hand forged hand tools and decorative household things. And yes, I will keep making beads too. 🙂
What do you consider your greatest achievement in the work you do associated with EDC?
I would say my greatest achievement happens every time a customer is satisfied with their order. I am amazed and excited every time I get a new order.
What is the best thing you have made and why?
The best thing I have made is a set of blacksmith made shelves for my wife.
What EDC gear is in your pockets right now?
Just my phone, a custom leather wallet, and a Benchmade mini Barrage Tanto
What’s the favourite piece of EDC gear that you own?
My favorite is my Benchmade Mini Barrage. I have carried it almost daily for the past 8 years or so. My next favorite is my Springfield 911 .380.
What EDC item would you love to own and why?
To be completely honest, I don’t have any 1 item that would be a “grail” item. I like to use what I have, and the most meaningful items are things I have been given by friends.
A random fact about yourself that readers won’t learn anywhere else
I have Narcolepsy. I have fallen asleep in just about any place you can think of. Under cars that I’m working on, under my desk at work, just about every couch I sit on, my sleep has no boundaries.
