Ursa Goods

Tell us about where you’re from, what you do, how it all started and why you enjoy it.

I come from Poland and currently live in Legionowo near Warsaw (the capital of Poland). My adventure with leather began long before the Ursa Goods brand was founded. It was 8 years ago. After I made the handle for my first bushcraft knife, it was the turn of the sheath. I bought a few pieces of leather, some thread, and some basic budget tools. All of this happened during the summer holidays when I was at my grandmother’s. The kitchen board has unfortunately suffered from this. After this experience, I made a few more leather items and put the tools in the closet for several years.

At the end of 2019, at the request of my friends, I again reached for these tools, bought a few and the necessary materials and started making things from leather. It was then that I was on a long vacation, and while doing these things, I remembered how relaxing it was. I sat down to design and started making the first products for wallets, notebook covers and other accessories.

At first it was still a hobby, but after I started posting photos on Instagram, Mark from Canada wrote to me. It was only after that and our discussions that I started to seriously think about creating a brand and dealing with it on a daily basis. It was around January / February 2020.

What are your aims and are there any items or products you’d love to make?

Currently, my main goal is to create products that support the organization of everyday life. These products are 100% handmade and are to last. Due to the huge number of orders, my queue of prototypes and products to be done is systematically growing. The product I would like to make one day is a leather backpack or bag.

What do you consider your greatest achievement in the work you do associated with EDC?

My greatest achievement so far has been meeting many wonderful people and making friends. Thanks to this work, I can travel virtually the whole world, hoping that one day I will meet some of these wonderful people.

What is the best thing you have made and why?

In my opinion, the best product is Little Paw. It is a space-saving organizer that holds all the essentials of EDC. I am also most happy with it, because the whole idea was born in my head, but through the survey I created on Instagram, I feel that this product is a voice and an idea also of the EDC Community.

What EDC gear is in your pockets right now?

Victorinox Pioneer from Johna aka Brasswerx Fisher Space Pen brass bullet Handkerchief Olive Flannel Firefly 15 The Maui and The Comrade – Ursa Goods

What’s the favourite piece of EDC gear that you own?

As of today, I have two favorite elements, and they are Big Idea Design Ti Click stonewashed and Olight Perun Mini. Two things that are most useful to me every day.

What EDC item would you love to own and why?

Currently, my next little dream is an open heart watch. I don’t have many watches, but this type of watch was owned by my grandfather and I am very sentimental. I’m in the process of looking for the right one, but when I choose it and buy it, you will definitely be able to see it on my Instagram.
