Tell us about where you’re from, what you do, how it all started and why you enjoy it.
I’m from Stockport in the UK, and I make leather products… knife slips, pocket caddies and wallets. I started making my own slips and caddies a few years ago as a hobby… I never really thought about making evolving it into a business until late last year when I found out I was being made redundant from my job… I launched my website in late December, and things have been going fantastically so far. I enjoy working with leather as I’ve always been a “potterer” with some creative hobby on the go… leather working has stuck because it also has a practical application for my interests in EDC.
What are your aims and are there any items or products you’d love to make?
My main aim for this year is to finish prototyping a load of unique designs I’ve been working on, and get them made and out there into peoples hands. I’m really enjoying minimalist wallets at the moment, and have a Field Notes full of ideas!
What do you consider your greatest achievement in the work you do associated with EDC?
Oooh… that’s tricky as I’ve only been doing it a couple of months… ask me again in a year!
What is the best thing you have made and why?
My favourite thing so far is the minimalist wallet I’ve just finished prototyping… I think I’m happy with it now, so time to get producing a full batch!
What EDC gear is in your pockets right now?
Great Eastern Cutlery #81 Abilene Stockman pocket knife, Kaweco Liliput copper ballpoint pen, Maratac AAA copper flashlight, Beard & Owl pocket square and one of my prototype wallets.
What’s the favourite piece of EDC gear that you own?
So hard to choose… I collect Great Eastern Cutlery knives, and I guess maybe my Mexican Bocote #57 Gepetto Whittler…
What EDC item would you love to own and why?
A random fact about yourself that readers won’t learn anywhere else
Erm… I dunno, haha… the only food I don’t like are mushrooms?
