Tell us about where you’re from, what you do, how it all started and why you enjoy it.

I’m from Pa but now live in Ohio. I’m a custom knife maker with a collaboration knife with Spyderco. I started modding knives because I mod everything I own. Part of being a product designer. I’m always wanting something that doesn’t exist, so I decided to make my own knife. It snowballed from there and is now a full time job.

What are your aims and are there any items or products you’d love to make?

Honestly, I have no desire to become a large company. I just want to make cool things that people want, while being able to pay my bills and provide for my family. I’d love someday to make a hand forged Japanese kitchen knife.

What do you consider your greatest achievement in the work you do associated with EDC?

Definitely my collaboration with Spyderco on the Spyderco Smock. Seeing pictures of guys loving the knife and from all over the world is really cool. I never thought it would be this popular.

What is the best thing you have made and why?

Well ‘Best’ is hard to define. I would say any of the full dress SK23’s. They are expensive but beautiful when finished.

What EDC gear is in your pockets right now?

Spyderco Smock, titanium Olight, and my MacGregor Customs wallet.

What’s the favourite piece of EDC gear that you own?

My custom SK23 that I made for myself. I carry the Smock when working and the SK23 when going out.

What EDC item would you love to own and why?

Grimsmo Knives Saga pen. John has been a friend for years and I like supporting other makers.

I love reef keeping. I’ve been doing it for probably 15 years and now have a beautiful 75g tank. Nothing more relaxing than watching live coral grow.
