Part 8 – Non alcoholic edition – Erdinger

So this one is a beer that a few people have mentioned so clearly a popular choice in the Non-alcoholic beer category.  And well it couldn’t have gotten of to a worst start as it was opened and knocked over before a sip was even taken, bubbles, liquid and panic everywhere. What can only be described as a crime scene a clean up mission soon was in full action to avoid further beer loss.  We salute the wasted beer that was needlessly lost in the fall of 2021.

With a new Erdinger opened with the Coop edition Griffin Pocket Tool a fresh start was needed.  Care was taken on this one and finally the first taste was experienced for this beer….and….well slightly underwhelmed if I am honest.  As mentioned this one had been mentioned a few times and I was expecting something a bit more exciting that what was experienced.  A standard light hoppy beer but with a minor undertone of the fake wheat style taste (but will say only minor).

So this Bavarian brewery  in Erding has been going for over 130 years and is sold all over the world, they have continued to brew to the strictest standards with select wheat and barley malt to keep the beer consistently the same. To date they have sold over 1.5m hectolitres are one of the largest family owned wheat brewery in the world.

Half way down the bottle the taste has become pleasant and seems very much like a standard German beer. Crisp and wheaty and while pleasant I thought it was nothing special. Nothing to really stand out and make me think this is a different beer.

This larger will be given a very standard middle of the road 5/10 on the Cooperator edccooperative scale.

We would love hear what you think if you have tried this one, or your thoughts on non alcoholic beers but also if you recommend any. Add comments below and also on our Facebook group page.
